Changing your eating habits to healthy ones!

Next term we will be looking at Healthy Eating and Healthy Habits. Here is something to get you thinking while you are still on  holidays.
Can you change the things you eat to ensure you are a healthier person?

You might think you eat well, but do you know how much of each food you should be eating? The Healthy Eating Plate is a way to easily remember/see how much protein, carbohydrate, and vegetables you need in a main meal.

Have a look at the short clip which shows the use of the ‘Healthy Plate’.

Healthy Pizza Friday!

Today we made our very own healthy Pizzas.

Firstly, we helped Mrs Mahney, Mrs Anna and Miss Moloney chop up all of our toppings.

The toppings we had to choose from were: tomato paste, ham, salami, mozzarella, capsicum, onion, mushrooms, cherry tomato, olives, pineapple, anchovies, chilli flakes, BBQ sauce and basil.

We were then called in small groups to wash our hands and dress our bread roll based pizzas.
They were then taken to Mrs Anna who was putting them into the hot oven for us.

We enjoyed our healthy lunch and topped it off with some fresh fruit.

What a great way to end the term!

Jamie Oliver’s Revolution Food Day FUN!!!

Today 5/6 MA, 5/6 WM and 3/4 M all worked together to make a Rainbow Salad Wrap.

Jamie Oliver came up with the idea to see how many children around the world could cook at the same time to create a new World Record.
He came up with a very tasty, very healthy and nutritious meal for us to make without needed cooking appliances.
There were a number of steps to follow but we were able to follow along on his online Live Stream.
We needed beetroots, carrots, cabbage, pear, vinegar, olive oil, yogurt, mustard, parsley, mint, wholemeal wraps and feta cheese.
These Rainbow Salad Wraps were very easy to make and most importantly were VERY tasty!

We can’t wait to see how many children from all around the world participated and whether we will make it into the Guinness World Book of Records!!!
